Be Ready for July 28^th

Starting from July 28th, 2010, Qatar's phone numbers are expanding by an extra digit, to meet the growing demand for both fixed, and mobile phone numbers.

Qontacts will analyze all of your contacts, which need to be updated to the new numbering plan, and present them to you. You can decide whether to update some, or all of your contacts, or even have a preview of what's going to be changed for a particular contact.

Analyze

Qontacts smart analysis alogrithim detects only the Qatari numbers, that are either:

National numbers with 7 digits.
International numbers starting with 00974, or +974. Followed by 7 digits.

It won’t update any updated numbers, i.e., numbers with 8 digits, or numbers that don’t conform to the rules of the new numbering plan, defined by ictQATAR

Preview

Qontacts offers a preview of what numbers are going to be changed, for each contact that is found after the smart analysis.

You can see and compare the current with the updated numbers, before you actually do the update.

Update

Qontacts has a very flexible update procedure, where you can decide whether to update all of your contacts in one shot, or select some of them to update to the new Qatari numbering plan.

Yes! you read this right. Qontacts is not only a free mobile app, in fact, it is also released under the open source domain. You can view, download, or even participate, if you have programming language experince, in enhancing this application. You can find the full source code at Github.
